James was a very young Engineer and came up with the idea for the Profiler system when he was introduced to a new software package. Having previously worked for the Flowserve Corporation and having hauled heavy test equipment with car batteries throughout processing plants, he saw a need for a lightweight, versatile system for performing valve diagnostic analysis.

He pitched his idea to his wife, Tracy, and she committed to helping him realize his dream with one exception: They wouldn’t borrow any money to finance its development. With a young family of three children, Tracy quit her job to start their new company while James worked late into the evenings in the basement after work.

He converted the family pool table into a workbench/desk and piped air from a compressor in the garage to the basement for testing. Utilizing his background in automatic control valve assembly, research and development, robotics and automation, electronics, a passion for engineering, and experience developing safety of flight test software, he set about creating the beta version of the Profiler™ system.

After two years of development, a small Utah service and repair company expressed interest in beta-testing the system. Nearly 25 years later, valve manufacturers, valve repair facilities, and end-users worldwide use the Profiler system. The Profiler family of test systems has grown to include our standard Profiler system, the Profiler Mini, MOV/SIS/block valve test accessories, and the Profiler SRV test system for pressure safety relief valves.

James will always say that our systems are never done but continue to evolve. Engineering is the relentless pursuit of improvement—every project, every design, is a step toward something better, but never the final step.

Thanks for joining us on this incredible journey,

James & Tracy Davis
